ARTICLES OF FAITH

We believe in one living and true God, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; equal in essence, power, and glory; yet these are not three, but one God.
Matthew 28:18-20; I Corinthians 8:5-6
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the written Word of God and the only infallible rule of faith and practice.
II Timothy 3:16-17
We believe in the fall of Adam, the corruption of human nature, and the impotency of man to recover himself by his creature ability.
Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12-21; Romans 6:23; I Corinthians 15:21-22
We believe that sinners are Justified in the sight of God only by the righteousness of Jesus Christ imparted to them.

We believe the Saints will continue in a state of grace and that not one of them shall finally be lost.

We believe there will be a resurrection of the dead and general judgment and that the happiness of the righteous and the punishment of the wicked shall be eternal.
Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:1-15
We believe that the visible Church of Christ is a congregation of faithful persons who have obtained fellowship with each other and have given themselves to the Lord and one another, having agreed to keep a Godly discipline agreeable to the rules of the Gospel.
Matthew 16:18-19; Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 2:12-22; I Peter 2:2-10
We believe it to be the duty of all churches to make an abridgment of their principles as deduced from the scriptures as their covenant or constitution.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the great head of the church and that the government is with the body.

Matthew 3:5-9, 13-17; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:26-38; Romans 6:3-5
We believe that we have no right to admit any to commune with us at the Lord’s table but orderly baptized church members.

We believe it to be the duty of all churches to keep a church book and record all of their official acts.
A Brief History of Mount Hebron Baptist Church
"The roots of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church were sown in New Testament time...Mt. Hebron Baptist Church was constituted in 1872. [At that time], Bro. Kemper was pastor at Forks of Dix River Baptist Church. Several FDRBC members lived in the Mt. Hebron community. (It had been called Mt. Hebron since about 1857).
One of these members, who as a farmer in this community, was a deacon at FDRBC and assisted Bro. Kemper in preaching. His name was Achilles Allen. He preached in homes, the Collier School House, or wherever he could.
The time came when these members in the Mt. Hebron community felt they should be separated from the mother church and organized into and indigenous church in their community. Bro. Allen petitioned Forks of Dix River Baptist Church with this request and the request was granted. Mt. Hebron Baptist Church was constituted in 1872 with 46 members."
